Elder Watkins has entered the building!

My baby brother entered the MTC today. We are all very proud of him and know that he will do an amazing job as he serves the Lord and the people of the New York, New York South Mission. He was as prepared as one can be and was excited to learn REAL spanish, not the high school-never-really-learn-it kind. The MTC was interesting seeing as how due to all this swine flu business they did not have the usual family attended orientation and instead he was efficiently driven onto the MTC grounds, unloaded, and on his way. All morning Cole was saying "We are taking Lance on his mission today!" and he even tried to sneak his stuff into Lance's suitcase. You see in his mind, he was going on the mission too and they would return home shortly. Poor Cole was none too happy when I explained that we wouldn't see Lance for a long time, but was a bit consoled when he was told he could send him "mail letters". I know missions fly by, but Cole will be about to enter Kindergarden when he returns, and Ali will be almost 3! So much will change , and we know Lance will have amazing experiences that will change him in ways too. Uncle Lance was a great example for Cole today, and we love him for it!

That is awesome! It sounds like it was a good thing your mom didn't make the trip all the way here just to stick him on a bus to be taken to the MTC.

So, you guys had to drop him off at the door then because of this swine flu thing then, huh? It's amazing how much happens in 2 years in our busy lives! -VAL
